The bride and groom, Ashley Brown and Matthew Simmons, met in the classiest of establishments, a local North Atlanta bar called Moondogs -- and if you don't believe us, check out the negative Yelp reviews for the place.  Making it even classier, Ashley was underage at the time.

After having a great time together laughing at the over-inebriated patrons at Moondogs, Matthew convinced Ashley to join him for an Atlanta Braves game.  Ashley agreed and found Matthew to be surprisingly tolerable and an overly-confident driver -- the latter, a skill she has since acquired and perfected.

Ashley ventured to Australia to study abroad and then went home to New Jersey, and Matthew watched cars race in circles.  But when she came back to Atlanta, Ashley contacted Matthew and soon after they got together again -- but not for a date.  However, they soon ended up dating.

They dated and dated, and soon Ashley graduated from Emory.  Without an immediate full-time job lined up and her rental lease expiring, they decided the graduate would move in with Matthew in his 400 square-foot studio -- which directly neighbored a Popeyes.  What a seemingly dumb decision, but they didn't kill each other.   And they even adopted a dog, JoJo, in that period.  Wow.

Matthew soon bought a house in an eclectic, historic neighborhood in Atlanta, Cabbagetown, and they escaped the studio.  In the next few years, life moved pretty quickly.  Matthew received a second degree and took a job with Toyota's NASCAR program, continuing to draw a paycheck watching cars go in circles.  Ashley moved from Pinnacle Promotions to Randstad to an awesome job with Invesco.  And they even acquired a second dog, a little poo head named Ellie Mae -- or Ellie Poo, as she is more lovingly known.

But most importantly, Matthew and Ashley got engaged in November of 2011.  The couple was headed to Florida to take a cruise to the Bahamas, but Matthew detoured to Savannah for a surprise stopover.  Matthew proposed at sundown in Forsyth Park and the newly betrothed couple enjoyed an evening in Savannah before heading to port and off to the Bahamas -- and Ashley didn't lose the ring in the ocean.
